Coming soon: Marseille welcomes the POSEIDON project partners
On April 29th and 30th, 2025, the City of Marseille will host the POSEIDON project partners for two days of collaborative work to share progress and shape the next steps toward energy transition in Mediterranean cities.
An emblematic venue: La Friche la Belle de Mai
The meeting will take place in an emblematic location in the city: La Friche la Belle de Mai, a former industrial site transformed into a cultural center and innovation hub. This 45,000 m² space is a crossroads of creativity and innovation, attracting over 450,000 visitors each year. It houses over 70 resident organizations, performance halls, exhibition spaces, and shared gardens. La Friche la Belle de Mai perfectly embodies the City of Marseille’s commitment to ecological transition and social innovation.
At the heart of this dynamic space, a new reflection hub has emerged: LaboFriche. This center is dedicated to research and development, bringing together public, private, scientific, and citizen actors to collaborate on contemporary issues, particularly energy transition, ecology, and cultural rights.
Two days of collaborative work in Marseille: an immersion in sustainable innovation
The two days in Marseille will be an opportunity for the partners to share their work, exchange ideas on challenges, and develop solutions for energy transition in Mediterranean cities.
The program includes project updates, interactive workshops, and a press conference highlighting Marseille’s commitment and presenting the local district chosen as a POSEIDON demonstrator. Partners will also explore Urban Living Labs and visit the selected neighborhood to better understand the local context for testing energy solutions.
An ambitious project for a sustainable future
These two days of work in Marseille will mark a key milestone for the POSEIDON project, while strengthening collaboration among project partners. By launching the Urban Living Labs, POSEIDON demonstrates a participatory and inclusive approach, where academia, civil society, private and public stakeholders work together to address the challenges of energy transition.
